​2 layers of 200mm width 0.111mm thick carbon fiber reinfroced fabric are pasted on the frame beam. The top of the beam is bonded with 2 layers of 200mm wide 0.111mm thick carbon fiber fabric in the span of 1/3 beam and anchored with 100mm wide longitudinal carbon fiber layering.

Project overview

The following problems were found in the quality inspection of the integrated office building:

1. The part of the frame girder appears obvious cracks in the middle span, which are exposed to the small and big cracks, and the corrosion is serious.

2. The strength of the original design concrete is C30, and the measured concrete strength is between C20-C30.

The strength of the component is affected by poor construction quality, but the office building can also be used after retrofitting.


Strengthening method

The design decides to strengthen by the carbon fiber reinfroced fabric(CFRP). 12k 200g carbon fiber fabric is needed.


2 layers of 200mm width 0.111mm thick carbon fiber cloth are pasted on the frame beam. The beam top is bonded with 2 layers of 200mm wide 0.111mm thick carbon fiber cloth in the span of 1/3 beam and anchored with 100mm wide longitudinal carbon fiber layering.
